"Foolish Saul"

Welcome to "A Minute With the Bible".

In 1 Samuel 15 we have the story of King Saul failing to obey God’s command.  This story gives us an excellent example of something that people do even today,

When Samuel the prophet confronted Saul because of his disobedience Saul boldly affirmed that he had done what God had told him to do.  Even when Samuel points to the evidence that proved Saul’s disobedience, Saul still maintained that he was obedient to God.  He offered excuses to justify his disobedience.  In his mind he was right.  But he was as wrong as he could be.  Be sure to read the story in 1 Samuel 15.

One thing this story tells us is that we can fool ourselves, we can try to fool others, but we cannot nor will not fool God. We must develop  an honest and humble heart to enable ourselves to look within ourselves.  We must be able to honestly measure ourselves by what God says in His word.  To do otherwise is to be like foolish and rebellious Saul.
