There’s
no better time spent than reading God’s word. God “talks” to us
in His word, telling us everything we need to know (2
Peter 1:3).
In
addition to the reading of God’s word is the need to understand
it and make proper application of it. In
Nehemiah 8:8 we read, “So they
read distinctly from the book, in the Law of God; and they gave
the sense, and helped them to understand the reading.” This is
accomplished in preaching, teaching and in writing about God’s
word.
This
section of “Time With The Bible” will feature articles written
by men as they endeavor to give the sense of a passage and its
application. When reading anything from the pen of men, we all
need to do as the Bereans did of old and for which they were
commended. “These were more fair-minded than those in
Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness,
and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these
things were so.” (Acts 17:11)
In other words, have an open mind and be willing to listen, but
always use God’s word to verify that what is written is true.
We
believe you will find the articles to be helpful and relevant
for living today.
